Four years have passed since the killing of Jina (Mahsa) Amini and the beginning of a movement that turned her name into a "symbol" of change in Iran, a movement that began with the cry "Woman, Life, Freedom" and grew into a broad demand for freedom, equality, and justice.

Four years on, the repression continues. The Islamic Republic still tries to silence the voice of protest through arrests, imprisonment, executions, threats against justice-seeking families and civil activists, and a range of other tools. Recent reports from international bodies, including the UN's Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran, show that this repression has not only continued but has intensified in recent months.
But today's Iran is not the Iran of before September 2022 (Shahrivar 1401).
The "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement created a change in Iranian society that has not been erased by repression, arrests, and threats. The demand for freedom, equality, and justice has become an inseparable part of society's public discourse. The justice-seeking families who are united in this movement call for an end to the cycle of repression and impunity, believing that when perpetrators and those who order crimes are not held accountable, the crimes are repeated.

In January 2026, the UN Human Rights Council renewed the mandate of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran for another two years and expanded its scope beyond the 2022 protests to also cover ongoing human rights violations. This step, alongside the international legal pursuit by the families of Flight PS752 at the International Court of Justice, shows that the path to accountability for the crimes of the Islamic Republic is widening.

For us, the families of the victims of Flight PS752, this connection holds deep and personal meaning. We are part of the same broad network of justice-seeking families in Iran, a network stretching from Khavaran to the November 2019 (Aban 98) protests and Flight PS752, from the Woman, Life, Freedom movement to Dey 1404 (December 2025/January 2026). This network, despite differences in the timing and form of the crimes, stands united on one shared demand: an end to impunity, the discovery of truth, and accountability for those who ordered and carried out these crimes. Our pursuit of justice for our loved ones from Flight PS752 is not separate from the larger demand of the Iranian people for truth, justice, and accountability.

On this fourth anniversary of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, we honor the memory of Jina Amini and all those who lost their lives in the path of freedom and justice, and we stand alongside the families who continue to fight for truth and justice.
No society can be built without truth, no peace without justice, and no future of freedom without accountability. We call on the international community to support international accountability mechanisms, including the UN Fact-Finding Mission and ongoing legal cases, and to insist on their continuation.

We will neither forget nor forgive those who killed the children of Iran.
