Flight PS752 Shot Down Over Tehran
Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 was shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shortly after takeoff from Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport. All 176 passengers and crew on board were killed, including 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents.
MemorialIran Admits to Shooting Down the Plane
After three days of denial, the Islamic Republic of Iran admitted its military had shot down Flight PS752 "unintentionally." Families and survivors immediately called for full accountability and demanded that those responsible face justice in an independent international court.
LegalFamilies Begin Organizing Across Canada
Families of victims across Canada began organizing in the weeks following the tragedy. Communities in Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Ottawa held vigils and informal meetings to coordinate their collective response and share legal information.
CommunityAssociation Formally Incorporated in Canada
The Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims was formally incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in Canada. The founding mission was threefold: unite the grieving families, preserve the memory of those lost, and pursue international legal accountability.
CommunityFirst Anniversary Commemoration Planned
The Association began planning for the first anniversary commemoration of the tragedy, coordinating with communities across Canada and internationally. The event would serve as both a memorial and a call for continued accountability.
MemorialPolitical Sponsorship Program Launched
The Association launched its Political Sponsorship Program, pairing families with Canadian Members of Parliament to maintain direct pressure on elected officials to advance justice for PS752. The program connected over 100 families with MPs across party lines.
Advocacy“Keep Up the Fight for Justice” Fundraising Campaign
Ahead of the first anniversary, the Association launched a public GoFundMe campaign to support legal and expert costs, family support, memorial events, communications, and its continuing pursuit of justice. More than 3,300 donors contributed.
FundraisingFirst Anniversary — Global Commemorations
The Association coordinated first-anniversary commemoration events across multiple cities — Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver, Ottawa, London, Stockholm, Kyiv, and others. Thousands gathered online and in person to honour the 176 lives lost and renew the call for accountability.
MemorialCanada Imposes Additional Sanctions on Iran
Following sustained advocacy by the Association, Canada announced additional targeted sanctions against Iranian officials connected to the PS752 shootdown. The Association praised the move while emphasizing that sanctions alone were insufficient — only independent judicial accountability would satisfy the families.
AdvocacyBook Fair Participation — Association Publications Launched
The Association participated in major Persian-language book fairs in North America, presenting the first official publications documenting the PS752 tragedy — including a commemorative book featuring the stories and photographs of the 176 victims.
MediaSecond Anniversary — "Two Years Without Justice" Campaign
The Association marked the second anniversary with a coordinated international campaign under the banner "Two Years Without Justice." Events were held in Canada, Ukraine, Sweden, and the UK, featuring testimonies from families and calls on governments to accelerate legal proceedings.
MemorialICAO Case Filed Against Iran
Canada, Ukraine, Sweden, and the United Kingdom jointly filed a formal complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) against Iran for violating the Chicago Convention and the Montreal Convention. This marked the first major multilateral legal action.

The Association and its fundraising team launched a renewed GoFundMe campaign to finance gatherings, specialist expertise, operations, family support, remembrance, and the pursuit of accountability. About 4,000 donors contributed more than $277,000 CAD.
FundraisingCriminal Complaint Filed at the ICC
The Association, on behalf of the families, submitted a formal criminal complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. The complaint requested a formal preliminary examination into the unlawful killing of the 176 passengers and crew of Flight PS752.
LegalPetition Submitted to Canadian Parliament
The Association presented a formal petition to the Canadian House of Commons, signed by thousands of Canadians, demanding that the Government of Canada designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and impose further accountability measures.
AdvocacyThird Anniversary — "Three Years Without Justice" Campaign
The Association organized major commemorations marking three years since the tragedy. Events in Toronto, Ottawa, London, Stockholm, and Kyiv drew broad participation. The anniversary statement was co-signed by representatives of families from all six nationalities affected.
MemorialFirst Annual PS752 Memorial 5K Run — Toronto
The Association organized the inaugural PS752 Memorial 5K Run in the Toronto area. The event raised both awareness and funds for the Association's advocacy work, with participants running in honour of the 176 victims. Hundreds of runners participated in what would become an annual tradition.
FundraisingJoint Application Filed at the ICJ
Canada, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom jointly filed an application at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, instituting formal inter-state proceedings against Iran for breaches of the Montreal Convention. The Association independently filed in support, marking a landmark achievement of three years of persistent advocacy.

The Association's commemorative publication — featuring biographies and photographs of all 176 victims — was presented at an international Persian-language book fair. The publication has become a lasting record of the lives of those lost, distributed to libraries and community centres worldwide.

In that time, it had grown to represent over 100 member families across six nationalities, filed complaints at three international forums (ICAO, ICC, and ICJ), organized annual commemorations, launched the 5K run program, and produced multiple publications documenting the tragedy.
CommunityFourth Anniversary — “Remember Me” Commemorations
The Association marked the fourth anniversary with commemorations in Toronto and other cities, including a graveside gathering, an official program, and a candlelight vigil.

Canada, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom initiated dispute-settlement proceedings before the ICAO Council, opening another international legal path toward accountability.
