SEPTEMBER 2020

Political Sponsorship Program Launched

The Association launched its Political Sponsorship Program, pairing families with Canadian Members of Parliament to maintain direct pressure on elected officials to advance justice for PS752. The program connected over 100 families with MPs across party lines.

Canada Imposes Additional Sanctions on Iran

Following sustained advocacy by the Association, Canada announced additional targeted sanctions against Iranian officials connected to the PS752 shootdown. The Association praised the move while emphasizing that sanctions alone were insufficient — only independent judicial accountability would satisfy the families.

Petition Submitted to Canadian Parliament

The Association presented a formal petition to the Canadian House of Commons, signed by thousands of Canadians, demanding that the Government of Canada designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and impose further accountability measures.

At an aviation-safety symposium in Haarlem, the Association’s president met ICAO leadership and continued advocating for accountability and safer international rules.

International Aircraft-Investigation Rules Amended After Six Years of Advocacy

ICAO approved an amendment to Annex 13 addressing conflicts of interest when a state may be implicated in an aircraft downing, following sustained advocacy by the Association.
