Statement of the Association regarding the Bandar Abbas tragedy

The recent explosion in Bandar Abbas is a repetition of a painful trend that has, for nearly half a century, sacrificed human lives for the survival of a ruthless and destructive regime. In this latest criminal act, which as always, has been marred in the lies and treachery of the Islamic regime, dozens of employees and workers of this commercial area were mercilessly killed. For us, the survivors of those who perished on Flight 752, this pain is familiar: just as our loved ones were set aflame by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the skies over Tehran, the defenseless people of Bandar Abbas were also drenched in blood by that same corrupt organization on the very land that should have been their home and sanctuary.

We know how the wretched Islamic regime uses innocent citizens as human shields for its sinister objectives. When they shot down the passenger plane in the sky over Tehran, the world saw that the security of citizens means nothing to this government. The Bandar Abbas tragedy is a continuation of that same story: total disregard for human life, whether by bullets, silence or lies, or by bombs and missiles.

We face a terrifying apparatus that escapes accountability and commits endless atrocities. From Flight PS752 to the blood-soaked peaceful protests, from torture and execution to the explosion of suspicious cargo in a commercial port, all are links in a chain that will soon be broken by the hands of the Iranian people.

We stand alongside the grieving families of Bandar Abbas. This wound is the wound of all of us. If there is an answer, it lies only in pursuing the truth and ending injustice. The perpetrators and instigators of this crime will one day be tried before the people of Iran who seek justice. Until the day comes when human life, justice, and humanity are honored in our country, we shall never forget, nor shall we forgive the murderers of Iran’s children.
